Boo ft. Curren$y and Capo- Rooftop
Commentary by the young legend Mike Byrne:
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this song (there were two rappers I had never heard of before in it) but I was floored by the triumphant, galavanting beat that comes at you like a longboat full of Vikings heading to shore to pillage and plunder. Obviously, my opinion might be a little biased since the year just ended and its freshest in my mind, but this was definitley one of my favorite beats of 2009. Anyway, Boo starts things off with a really tight verse. “My swag overseas like a passport, 645 160 on the dashboard.” I was really impressed by his flow and his word choice, and I look forward to hearing what he does next. As you would expect by now, Curren$y’s verse is on point, as is his chorus. Curren$y hits hard with some sick lines like “I sip fine wine and spit vintage flows…,” and “Let me know when you ready I’ll be there in a second, got the swagger of a king amongst peasants…” I like the idea of Curren$y riding a horse through a village full of medieval peasants surveying his kingdom that he just conquered, probably after riding out to this song. The last verse becomes to Capo, and believe it or not, I think it is actually the highlight of the song. His lines may not be as complex or as clever as those of Boo or Curren$y, but he brings an infectious flow and a fucking unstoppable swagger to the track that closes it out perfectly. You can’t help but get hyped when he says stuff like “Peelin’ through the city with the pedal to the floor, nine different cities everyday like it’s a tour” or “I can get em gone like magic, 100,000 thousand on the lawyer so I smashed it, I ain’t tryna see no Judge Mathis.” All in all, this was a really good video. We knew Curren$y was going to be quality, but full credit to Boo and Capo, they really tore it up on this track and I really feel that they deserve to be getting a lot more buzz than they are right now; I’m sure they will soon anyway.

The Crunkest Christmas Jam. Yuuuuuuuuuuuullle!
Zone2 homie and Guest Contributor Mike Byrne was so thow’d off this video he had to write about it.
‘Thow’d Off’ features Supplya toting some serious hardware and Gorilla Zoe rapping about how much clout he has with the politicians and lawyers of Atlanta- what more could you ask for from a song done over an old Tupac beat? Supplya steals the show here, decked out in all black, carrying a gun that I doubt U.S. speical ops troops would even have access to, and rapping that “I want the combination number to the safe, unless you want a combination of bullets in your face.” One thing is clear, this if you’re ever going to borrow money from Supplya, make sure you plan on paying him back promptly…
